The European Commission has approved the allocation of EUR 1.3 billion for the development of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity under the Digital Europe Program (Digital) for 2025-2027. This will be part of the EU large -scale initiative to enhance digital safety and technological innovation.
The Digital program is aimed at introducing the latest technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital competencies. Most of the funding will be divided into the following areas:
- Artificial intelligence: Supporting the AI Factory Initiative, which will develop generative models for business and public sector.
- Cybersecurity: Increasing the stability of critical infrastructures, including hospitals, financial institutions and underwater cables.
- Digital skills: financing educational programs to increase digital literacy of EU citizens and develop specialized IT competencies.
One of the key initiative tasks is to create a reliable digital space in the conditions of growing cyberattacks and geopolitical instability. Increased attention will be paid to the protection of personal data, the fight against cybercharism and the modernization of digital systems of public administration.
Digital large -scale funding is a continuation of the EU Strategy to strengthen digital sovereignty and support the latest technologies. These investments are expected to promote innovations that will make Europe more competitive in the world technology market.
The program will begin in 2025, and the first results of the implementation of the projects will be published in 2026.
