Europe should think about creating its own nuclear weapons, as Trump's latest statements have shown that the US should not be relied on.
This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the European Parliament and the leading candidate of German Social Democrats at the coming European elections of Catarin Barley in an interview with Tagesspiegel.
When asked whether the EU needs its own nuclear weapons, Barley replied: "On the way to the European Army, it can also be a topic for discussion."
As for Ukraine, she said that if the US ceases to be its main supplier of weapons, "Europe will have to take this responsibility."
"If Putin publicly calls into question the territorial integrity of Poland and Lithuania, it shows how vigilant we should be," Barley said, calling for Putin's threats seriously.
Recall that Trump recently made it clear that he would not protect NATO countries unless they raise his defense expenses.
At the same time, his chances of re -election grow.
