This summit, which takes place in the Elysee Palace, is an important part of France's diplomatic efforts to mobilize international support for Ukraine in a continuing war with Russia.
During the summit, the leaders of the countries that joined this initiative will discuss four major topics that are crucial for the future of Ukraine. The first of these is security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a peace agreement with Russia. According to President Macron, France seeks to establish a mechanism that will help ensure the stability and support of Ukraine's sovereignty in the postwar period.
The second topic will be to ensure a steady ceasefire and effective monitoring of its observance. Macron emphasized that in order to achieve a sustainable peace in Ukraine it is important to create a situation where neither of the parties will be able to freely violate the truce.
The third important topic is the future of the Ukrainian army, including its reform and integration into European security structures. The discussion is expected to support the development of a common European defense policy that will include Ukraine.
The last but no less important topic is the issue of "guarantee" forces. The peace agreement implies the creation of international forces that will help ensure the stability and fulfillment of the terms of the agreement. However, Macron noted that these forces will not be placed on the front line, which avoids direct military confrontation with Russia.
France, as one of the key countries in the European Union, seeks not only to help Ukraine maintain sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also to ensure long -term stability in Europe. Macron said that the summit would be an important step in the direction of global mobilization of international support for Ukraine.
"We have to mobilize every opportunity to help Ukraine not only now, but also in the future, when the time of stabilization and reconstruction is set," Macron said before the summit.
Zelensky, who came to the summit, accompanied his delegation, emphasized the importance of strengthening international security guarantees for Ukraine.
