The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a new law, which provides for the inclusion of young men who turn 17 in the conscript register. This law, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and signed on January 15, 2025, amends the law "On Military Duty and Military Service". The goal is to improve the process of registering citizens for military registration and conducting medical examinations during basic military training.
According to the new rules, young people who have reached the age of 17 must be registered between January 1 and July 31 each year. The registration process can be carried out through an electronic office or through a personal application to territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC and SP). After being registered, the young people will also undergo a medical examination before undergoing practical training in basic military training.
In addition, the law provides for the possibility of continuing the registration of servicemen who voluntarily left the unit and who voluntarily returned to military units until March 1. They are given the right to resume military service, conclude a contract and resume payments.
Women who are fit for military service and willing to undergo basic training can also be registered voluntarily.
