Zelensky declared support for China initiative to cease fire in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky shared important details of negotiations on a possible ceasefire in the territory of Ukraine, noting that China expressed his readiness to support a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. This puts China in the category of countries that are actively looking for the path to the de -escalation of conflict and stabilizing the situation in Ukraine.

In his speech on May 13, Zelensky noted that such signals about supporting the ceasefire initiative came from Chinese representatives. They confirmed their readiness to promote the first step to the peace process, offering a 30-day ceasefire. According to the President, such a step would allow a serious conversation about the further stages of peace talks and promote stability in the region. However, the President emphasized that this is only the first stage and it is important not to stop there, but to look for ways for a long peace.

Zelensky also drew attention to the fact that, despite Russia's statements about intentions to negotiate, Russia's aggressive actions did not stop. The President noted that the Ukrainian side has its obligations to ceasefire, but Russia does not comply with any agreements, causing strokes in the peaceful population.

"Despite the fact that we hear different proposals from Russia, we continue to protect our land, our cities and people," Zelensky said. He cited an example of Russia's actions from May 8 to May 10, when the country caused more than 115 air strikes, using more than 7,000 Kamikadze drones. In addition, more than 190 managed aircraft were dropped. According to the President, Russia continues to cause significant damage to the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, which complicates the achievement of true peace.

The ceasefire proposal has also received support from the United States of America, which made the initiative even more important to the international community. Zelensky expressed gratitude for the support of these efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity of the international community in the demands of Russia to stop aggression.

At the same time, the President does not exclude the possibility of negotiations with Russia, but emphasizes that it is only on the basis of Russia's specific obligations to cease fighting and ensure a stable ceasefire. Zelensky assured that Ukraine is ready for peace talks, but they should be based on clear guarantees of peace and security for all Ukrainian citizens.

Zelensky also recalled that not only the military but also the civilian population of the country suffers from Russia's aggression. The destruction of infrastructure, the destruction of residential buildings and the loss of lives among the civilians have become everyday life for Ukrainians. According to the President, Ukraine will continue working to restore the territories where it will be possible, but this process will depend on the efforts of all international partners.

"We aim not only to restore peaceful life on our lands, but also to ensure that aggression is no longer repeated in our country," the President added.

Zelensky also focused on the importance of further diplomatic efforts to achieve peace. He reported that Ukraine is actively working with partners, in particular through various international platforms to continue to work to stop aggression and peace. However, the President stressed that the result will depend on the real actions of Russia in the political arena and on its willingness to accept the conditions for a long peaceful process.
