US Presidential Advisor Mike Volts commented on a high -profile conflict in the White House between Donald Trump, Senator Jay Vens and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. In an interview with Fox News, Volts explained why the Trump administration decided not to continue meeting with the Ukrainian leader.
After the altercation in the oval office, the members of the Trump administration unanimously advised the President of the United States to complete the meeting. Volts stated: "After that image we just didn't see how to move on." He rejected the assumption that the meeting was an "ambush" for Zelensky. The White House Eastern Room planned to sign an agreement between the US and Ukraine. The document was to strengthen economic cooperation and provided investment in the sphere of minerals.
According to Volts, after the scandal, Zelensky did not fully realize what had happened. The Ambassador and Advisor of the Ukrainian President were "extremely upset" and asked to renew the meeting.
Volts stressed that Ukraine should get used to a new US approach in international relations. The Voltsa's statement clearly shows the change in the US rhetoric against Ukraine and new approaches to the international partnership introduced by the Trump administration.
