Biden is considering launching an operation in the Middle East in the coming hours

President Joe Biden considers the possibility of US sanctions and hostilities in the Middle East due to the attack of unmanned aircraft on American troops in Jordan. His advisers offer options from symbolic to rigid punitive measures, writes Sky News International Affairs Editor Dominic Waghorn.

The President hopes that the chosen option will help to restrain the escalation of the situation, but there is a risk that it can cause the opposite effect. The Pentagon is considering the attack on the attacked group, but some experts consider this insufficient reaction and emphasize the need to take the supporters of these groups in Iran.

According to the Pentagon, the Drone attack in Jordan may be associated with Catab Hesbolla - Iraqi armed group close to Iran. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken noted that the response to this attack can be "multilevel, step -by -step and stable over time."

Pentagon spokesman Major General Patrick Ryder emphasized the United States's willingness to defend his forces, but refused to involve in a larger conflict. Baiden's administration is looking for a decisive answer that holds Iran and his supporters without leading direct hostilities.
