Macron stated that Ukraine should resolve peace with Russia itself

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed a clear position on negotiations with Russia, stating that only Ukraine, represented by its President Vladimir Zelensky, has the right to negotiate the end of the war. In an interview for Financial Times, Macron emphasized the importance of this approach, emphasizing that only the Ukrainian leader can discuss the issues of territorial changes and sovereignty of his country.

Macron also noted that US leader Donald Trump played an important role in creating "windows" to stop Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. However, he warned that peace that can be achieved through surrender will not be a real peace and will have negative consequences for all, including the United States.

According to Macron, now the main question is whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to agree to the ceasefire. He stressed that an important condition for the peace process is a clear and reliable position of Russia, namely its readiness for compromise. The French President also stressed that after that Ukraine should resolve issues concerning its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Macron also drew attention to the need to strengthen Europe's defense potential so that it could act regardless of the United States as needed. According to him, the international community, especially European countries, should discuss not only peaceful conditions, but also security guarantees for the whole region, ensuring stability and security for Europe as a whole.
