Two mayors candidates were killed in different regions of Mexico before the approximate elections planned for June. In total, the number of local politicians who were killed before the election increased to 17.
The centeristrician candidate for mayor of Sudad-Monte Noe Ramos was mortally wounded by a knife in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas. The authorities are looking for the suspect. Local media reports that Ramos, who ran for the mayor re -election, met with voters on the street on Friday when he was hit with a knife.
In the southern state of Oakhak, another mayor of Alberto Antonio Garcia was also found dead on Friday. He and his wife Agar Kanchino, who is the mayor of the city of San Jose-Indiance, was considered missing from Wednesday. Kanchino himself was able to find alive.
The Mexican Election Commission stated that such crimes "should not occur during the election".
Earlier this month, a candidate for Berta Mayor Gaitan was shot on the street in Seliia, one of Mexico's most dangerous cities.
