Demilitarization in Europe: Risks and Challenges

According to the report of the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, anxiety is growing in Europe due to the weakening of its own armed forces and empty arsenals. It is noted that budget reductions and destruction of the armed industry have led to a serious devastation of arsenals, which creates risks to the security of the region.

The most vulnerable in this context are some key countries, including:

Britain:

The Britain's army, which is a leading US military ally in Europe, recorded a significant reduction in its weapons. There are only about 150 tanks and may have several good truckers.

France:

France has less than 90 heavy artillery units, which is about as much as Russia loses monthly in Ukraine.

Germany:

The German army was in a situation where the number of ammunition allows only two days of battle.

Denmark:

Denmark, for its part, has neither heavy artillery, nor submarines, nor air defense systems.

Anxiety is increasing in the context of the US isolation position and threats to allies in Europe by Russia. Understanding these risks becomes especially relevant after events in Ukraine that last almost two years. It assures that the current challenges require European countries to attention to military issues and strengthen their armed forces to ensure stability and security in the region.
