Putin will meet Trump's envoy Witcoff for discussing Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to meet with a special representative of US President Donald Trump Steve Witcoff. One of the main topics of negotiations will be to settle the situation in Ukraine. This was announced on April 11 by a spokesman for the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov, the Russian media reported.

According to Peskov, the meeting has already been agreed and will be used to convey Vitcoff "the main elements of Russia's position" regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Peskov stressed that the Russian side is counting on the transmission of this vision directly to President Trump.

"This is a good opportunity to convey to the American side our key concern and position. At the same time, we are sure that Mr Vitcoff will give us a message from President Trump," Peskov said.

The Kremlin also confirmed that other issues, such as bilateral relations between the United States and Russia, as well as the prospects for the restoration of full work of diplomatic missions of both countries, would be raised during the meeting.

"With Vitcoff, the discussion will be mostly concentrated on the subject of Ukrainian settlement," the spokesman added.

The highest level contacts between Russia and the environment of Donald Trump were intensified against the backdrop of his desire to propose a peaceful initiative to end the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian side has previously confirmed its openness to discussion of US proposals, while maintaining a course on restoration of territorial integrity.
