US President Donald Trump has commented on a recent US delegation visit to Greenland, stressing that it was not a provocation, but an act of friendliness. He stated that the delegation was invited by the Greenlanders themselves because of the feeling of disappointment from Denmark and the desire to gain more protection and support.
"We are dealing with many people from Greenland who would like something to happen to be properly protected and carefully care about them. They call us, we will not call them. And we were invited there," Trump said.
The US president also expressed concern that in the past, the Greenland has not received enough attention and support from their administrations, and the United States could become an important partner for the island in the future.
"They have not cared for the Greenland, and Greenland is something that may be in our future," Trump added, hinting at the United States a greater role in Greenland's development.
It should be noted that the visit of the US delegation, led by the second Lady Wash, received some criticism from Denmark. However, Trump assured that this visit is a sign of friendly intentions and the desire of the United States to help and support Greenland in its development.
