The president was arrested in South Korea

Investigators from the Corruption Perceptions Office (CIO) have arrested ousted South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol on sedition charges. This comes after a failed arrest attempt in early January.

The arrest warrant was executed at 10:33 a.m. local time. Investigators were able to get to the president's residence, overcoming barricades of cars created by the security service, thanks to the use of ladders.

Yoon Seok Yeol voluntarily surrendered to "avoid bloodshed", although he considers the charges against him to be illegal.

In early January, investigators were already trying to arrest Yun. Then several hours of confrontation with his security ended in vain, as they were unable to enter the residence.
