According to a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, most Ukrainians consider it important to criticize possible mistakes and wrong actions of the authorities, even in wartime.
In May 2022, at the beginning of the Russian invasion, 68% of respondents preferred to avoid any disputes and conflicts, believing that all differences should be postponed, while only 26% argued that criticism of power was acceptable.
However, by October 2023, the situation has changed significantly. Now 70% of Ukrainians recognize the importance of criticizing possible mistakes of power, but only 25% insist on avoiding disputes. This means that a large part of the country's population is viewed that constructive criticism is permissible and important for developments during a military conflict.
It is worth noting that this trend is traced in all regions of Ukraine, where the majority of the population believes that even in the current situation, it makes sense to criticize possible mistakes and wrong actions of the authorities.
It should be reminded that due to the full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, the parliamentary elections that were to take place on October 29 were postponed. The presidential elections were also postponed and planned to be held in March 2024. However, because of the current state of war, elections are prohibited in accordance with the Constitution and the law on martial law. According to some sources, the presidential elections are not prepared in the spring, at least at least. However, parliamentary elections can take place in the near future, possibly in the fall of next year.
