Ukraine received $1.2 billion from Japan through World Bank projects

In November-December, Ukraine received about $1.2 billion in financial aid from Japan through various World Bank projects. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. The funds were directed to the support of social, medical, educational spheres, as well as to the recovery and development of business.

Distribution of funding by projects:

  • 602 million dollars (INSPIRE): for social protection of low-income and vulnerable population groups;
  • 400 million dollars (SURGE): to finance the recovery and ensure the stability of the country;
  • 250 million dollars (RISE): for the development of the private sector;
  • 220 million dollars (THRIVE): to increase the efficiency of public spending in the field of health care;
  • $200 million (LEARN): to create a safe and comfortable educational environment.

According to Shmyhal, these funds are of strategic importance for strengthening the economy, restoring infrastructure and financing priority needs in the social and humanitarian spheres. The Prime Minister thanked Japan and the World Bank for their support and contribution to the recovery of Ukraine.
