The date of the election of the new president has been approved in Iran

After the tragic death of President Iran Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter catastrophe, Tehran announced early presidential elections. According to the announcement, they will take place on June 28, 2024.

By schedule, registration of candidates for the post of president will last from May 30 to June 3, and the period of the election campaign is scheduled from June 12 to June 27.

This initiative follows from the provisions of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which provides for the formation of a council for the management of the country's executive affairs for 50 days and preparation for the presidential elections.

On May 19, President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hosin Amir Abdollachian, the governor of the Iranian province of Eastern Azerbaijan Malik Rahmeti and Ayatol, Tembriz Ali Hashha, were killed during a plane crash. The delegation helicopter crashed in the forest in the northwest of the country, and only in the morning it was found in the mountains after a night search operation, complicated by weather conditions.

Representatives of the European Union explained that they helped Iran with the satellite system after the crash of the Raisi helicopter.
