The high-precision M982 Excalibur projectiles are opposed by the Russian anti-aircraft missile system

In the summer 2022, Ukraine was able to use high-precision M982 Excalibur shells, endowed with a GPS-pointing system, which promised significant advantages on the battlefield. Initially, these shells were distinguished by high accuracy and efficiency, helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces) to obtain successful results in military operations against the Russian forces.

But, as The Wall Street Journal notes, "for several weeks the Russian army has begun to adapt, using its formidable features of radio electronic struggle." Until the mid -2023, US high -precision shells with GPS "steel, are essentially in vain and no longer used."

Other precision western weapons also collided with a similar fate. Some, for example, HIMARS, "significantly decreased accuracy", others, for example, GLSDB "completely failed" through the Russian Reb. The American ATACMS and French-British winged Storm Shadow missiles remain relatively effective.

"The Pentagon refuses to discuss the characteristics of specific US weapons systems, referring to the reasoning of operational security,"
adds the American newspaper.

But anonymous Ukrainian and Western military acknowledge that "it is only a matter of time when Russia will learn to reduce its efficiency and increase the interception."

More and more Western military experts are afraid that it can call into question the entire Western military doctrine, which "was based on the belief that accuracy can win the mass, that is, accurately directed blows can paralyze the more numerous opponent, reducing the need for huge expenditures for troops, tanks and artillery."

"We probably made some wrong assumptions because over the last 20 years we have launched high -precision weapons against people who could do nothing,"
- The Wall Street Journal quotes the former US Army Commander in Europe, General Ben Hodges.

In general, any combat collision has always been a "game in the cat-" and wins the one who adapts faster. The newspaper recognizes that in this Western allies of Kiev are lagging behind.
