By October 1, 2024, France should provide key financial guarantees for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games. The French Parliament must ratify these guarantees by March 1 next year. French President Emmanuel Macron during a speech at a session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stressed the country's readiness to fulfill these obligations. “Seven years ago, we took the same obligation to go to the Summer Games in Paris in 2024, and we fulfilled it. We will do the same, ”he assured.
France will host the Winter Olympics six years after the summer games in Paris, which will officially start this Friday. It will be the fourth time when France organizes winter games, the previous ones took place in Chamona (1924), Grenobli (1968) and Albervili (1992).
This major sports event is an opportunity for France to demonstrate its ability to organize the highest levels, as well as stimulate the development of infrastructure and economics. However, it also requires considerable financial investments and organizational efforts, which raises certain issues and discussions among the public and politicians.
Interestingly, Ukraine has previously expressed interest in conducting the 2030 Olympics. In 2021, then Minister of Youth and Sports Vadim Gutzait declared the ambitions of Ukraine to take this large -scale event. However, given the current political and economic challenges, it will be difficult for Ukraine to implement such plans.
The next Winter Olympic Games of 2026 will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Krtina-D'Ampezzo, which is also an important event for the sports world.
