This week, US President Joe Biden plans to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), which will be held in Peru. The meeting is expected to discuss a wide range of global issues, including increasing tensions in the relationship between Washington and Beijing.
Baiden and SI negotiations will probably become one of the last meetings of the leaders of the two countries to possible changes in US leadership, as the political arena of the United States may return Donald Trump to a presidential position. Beijing is preparing for a potentially tense relationship with Washington if there is a transition of power.
This meeting will be the first official conversation between Biden and SI after their telephone conversation in April. According to one of US officials, negotiations will be difficult, but it is important that both parties discuss the issues openly to properly manage complex relationships.
"These conversations are not easy. This honesty was important in managing relationships," one of the officials on anonymity said.
