Pets bring joy, but it is worth remembering that even an innocent cat scratch can cause serious health problems. The gastroenterologist and therapist warns: micro -injuries from claws can cause inflammation of the joints, skin, liver and lymph nodes.
Scratches from street cats can be a gateway for dangerous infections. It is about felinosis (cat scratch disease) and bartonolia (or "cat fever"). Felinosis causes inflammation of the skin, lymph nodes and joints.
Bartonellosis can lead to serious infectious complications, damage to the internal organs and the nervous system. Homeless cats are often carriers of Bartonella heselae bacteria, which are transmitted through flea bites, flies, ticks and other insects. These microorganisms settle under the claws, and even a small scratch can transmit infection to the person. Children often play with street animals, hug them and even kiss them. If the kitten scratches the skin, dangerous bacteria easily penetrate the body, causing an inflammatory process and serious complications.
How to avoid dangerous consequences? Do not contact the stray cats - do not iron them or take it. Immediately treat the scratches with an antiseptic and thoroughly wash your hands after contact with the animals. Follow the behavior of a pet - regularly treat it from fleas and other parasites. If you have fever, swelling or lymph node pain after the scratch - consult your doctor immediately!
Cats are great friends, but it is important to remember the risks and take safety measures to avoid serious health problems.
