Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) conducted searches at the place of residence of the commander of the 211th Pontoon-brigade of the Forces of Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Oleg Zafrezhnyuk. The searches took place in the evening of Saturdays, December 28, 2024, as part of an investigation concerning accusations of military inaction during martial law.
According to the sources of "Ukrainian Truth" in law enforcement agencies, the investigation found that in the period from February to July 2024, Colonel Berezhnyuk, knowing significantly about the facts of torture and other inhumane treatment of one of the officers of his brigade, did not take proper measures. It is an officer Vladislav Pastukh, who, according to the investigation, subjected to military personnel. Despite the fact that the commander of the brigade was informed of the commission of crimes, he did not respond properly and did not initiate any measures to bring the shepherd to justice. As a result, the investigative bodies have prepared reports of suspicion of Oleg Babrezhniuk under Article 426, Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for inaction of military power in the conditions of martial law.
This investigation is a wide resonance among society, as it concerns an important topic of command of command for the actions of its subordinates, especially in the conditions of war. According to the Ukrainian legislation, the inaction of military leaders, which leads to violations of human rights or non -response to crimes, can have serious consequences for the state and its defense capability. At the same time, the investigation continues to find out all the circumstances of this case. The investigation into other possible violations is also ongoing. Experts emphasize the importance of providing high standards of military ethics and discipline, especially in war, when every wrong step can have catastrophic consequences.
It is worth noting that at the time of publication, official representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces did not comment on it. However, the law enforcement agencies note that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing, which will identify all the circumstances and perpetrators of the offenses committed.
