More than 5 ppm of alcohol in the blood, a record-breaking driver in Vinnytsia

The case in Vinnytsia, when a driver with a record high level of alcohol in his blood was stopped by patrol officers, highlights the problem of drunk driving and the danger it poses to society.

The driver had a blood alcohol level above 5 ppm, which is a lethal dose for most people. This corresponds to approximately 1.25 liters of vodka. The Drager breathalyzer could not even record the exact level due to exceeding the measurement limit. The driver ran a red light and violated the rules of stopping and parking. This attracted the attention of the police. Protocols were drawn up on the violator under several articles. He faces a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and deprivation of a driver's license for at least one year.

In Ukraine, the permissible level of alcohol in the blood is 0.2 ppm. This corresponds to a minimum amount of alcohol, for example, after one glass of beer.

The Verkhovna Rada is considering proposals to increase fines for traffic violations, which may have an additional impact on curbing such violations.

This case is a serious signal for action for the society and the authorities.
