Morocco's special services successfully ceased the activity of a terrorist cell that actively recruited militants to join the Islamic State (IDIL) group in the Sakhal region.
On Monday and Tuesday, four members of this group, aged 35 to 40, were detained in the cities of Tanger, Casablanca, Beni-Mella and Inzgan, said the Central Bureau of Marocco's judicial investigations. It is noted that electronic devices, money, large sabers, balaclava and rifles were seized during searches in the suspects.
The investigation showed that this cell interacted with the IDIL leaders in the Sahalo-Sakhara region, facilitating extremists in their relocation to this region.
The detained persons are in custody, investigations under the supervision of a competent prosecutor are being carried out. Recall that last November, joint operations of the State Police of Italy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States led to the detention of 17 people suspected of relations with mafia families active in Palermo and New York.
