In Germany, preparations are being made to restore bomb shelters and an air warning system

The Union of Cities and Communities in Germany appealed to the federal authorities to restore the old, conserved shelters in the country and build new ones, as well as install emergency warning systems in all cities. The proposal was supported by the head of the Union of Cities and Communities, Andre Berghegger.

The head of the Union of German Cities noted that the country's authorities should take care not only of the accumulation of weapons, but also of the protection of the population in the event of a real military threat.

According to data, only 600 of the 2,000 civilian storage facilities of the Cold War era remain in Germany, which can accommodate no more than 500,000 people. Therefore, in addition to restoring the existing ones, it is necessary to build new, modern shelters.

The Union also demands that the authorities install additional hazard warning systems. According to estimates, this will require at least 1 billion euros every year.

It is noted that the Minister of Defense of the country, Boris Pistorius, advocated the restoration of bomb shelters, not excluding the deployment of a military conflict with the Russian Federation on the territory of Europe.
