The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law that opens new opportunities for the development of financial inclusion in the country. The document provides for the creation of a new type of bank - a bank of financial inclusion, which will be able to work on a limited banking license.
According to the head of the Financial Committee of the Parliament Danylo Hetmantsev, the law will allow such institutions as UkrPoshta and other companies with a branched network, provide financial services to the population, in particular in remote areas, areas close to hostilities, as well as in liberated and low -populated areas.
Bill No. 13018-d was supported in the second reading and introduces new players into the Ukrainian market-financial inclusion banks that specialize in the service of citizens and small businesses. Working with large and medium -sized businesses with more than 2 million euros will be limited.
Restrictions also apply to the total amount of credit that the financial inclusion bank can provide one borrower, which will provide focus to support the target categories of clients.
This step aims to ensure the availability of financial services in regions where large banks do not work effectively because of the features of the location or the military situation. The introduction of financial inclusion banks will promote economic development and increase the level of financial literacy among the population.
Thus, the Law on Financial Inclusion is an important step in reforming the banking sector of Ukraine and opens up new opportunities for the development of local communities, especially in difficult conditions caused by military conflict.
