A new study revealed an important dependence between meals and weight loss . Scientists say that restriction of a window for 8 hours can lead to significant loss , which persists for a long time.
In a study conducted under the guidance of Dr. Alba Kamacho- Cardenos from the Institute of Biosanitary Studies of Granada, 99 participants who adhered to different regimes took part . The results showed that the best results were achieved among those who followed the 8- hour intake window , starting until 10:00 in the morning, and starved over the next 16 hours. This regime helped the participants on average 4.2 kg in 12 weeks, and these changes were stored even after a year when they lost another 2.2 kg. Other groups that adhered to a 12- hour food window or started their 8- hour window after 13:00 , also lost weight, but not so much . For example, a 12 - hour window reduced the weight by only 1.4 kg in the first 12 weeks, and the group with an 8- hour window after 13:00 lost 3.1 kg in the same period.
Particularly special is that even a year later , a group that adhered to a 12- hour food window recorded a weight gain by 0.4 kg, and the participants who fed within 8 hours from 13:00 lost 2 kg. Those who chose the window lost 0.7 kg per year. In addition to loss , researchers also measured changes in the waist and thighs . The group that was fed within the 8th window to 10:00 was observed by the average waist circumference by 4.1 cm and thighs by 4.6 cm . The group that followed the 8 - hour window from 13:00 , lost an average of 4.1 cm in the waist and 3.2 cm in the thighs. Other results : the group that chose its schedule reduced waist circumference by 3.7 cm and thighs by 3.6 cm, and participants with 12- hour window on average lost 1.1 cm in the waist and 1.4 cm in the hips. Annual results also showed an interesting trend. In the group with 12- hour food window , the waist circumference increased by 1.8 cm, and the circumference of the thighs- by 0.03 cm. However, the groups that started nutrition to 10:00 or chosen their window showed a significant decrease in the waist and thighs. The later nutrition group , in particular , lost 5.6 cm in the waist and 3.4 cm in the hips.
The study confirms that limiting time to eating can be an effective method for loss . The best results are the 8- hour food window which begins until 10:00 , and the effects are stored for a long time. Scientists also point out that this emphasizes the importance of periodic starvation to lose weight, which can be used even in everyday life.
