Finland supports Ukraine's accession to NATO and EU

President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, during a public discussion on peace talks regarding Ukraine, said there are clear red lines that are inviolable for Europe leaders. Speaking to colleagues, he emphasized the importance of supporting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

One of the main topics of his speech was the Red Line, which should insist European countries during negotiations. Stubb noted that there was no reason to discuss the prospect of Ukraine's accession to NATO and the EU. He cited the Finnish example, noting that after the Second World War, Finland retained its sovereignty, but lost some opportunities to choose its foreign policy unions, as well as 10% of its territory. "There are always three pillars that require absolute guarantee: it is independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity," Stubb said. He also noted that Kyiv was already conducting introductory talks with the EU, and that Ukrainians seek to become part of the European community and not remain under the influence of Russia. However, despite the fact that Ukraine's rapid entry into NATO is now unlikely, Stubb is convinced that this will change over time.

"And at some stage, Ukraine will be in NATO," the President of Finland added, emphasizing the importance of strategic direction for the future of Ukraine.
