Reuters reports that the company intends to start the construction of its plant in Brumat, near Strasbourg, France, next year. The first plans for this plant were presented in 2020, with estimated investments of 200 million euros. However, through the Covid-19 pandemic, the project was delayed.
Although the specific opening terms of the plant have not yet been named, the French government source indicated the probable opening in 2025.
It is worth noting that this news comes under conditions when some European countries are imposing restrictions on the use of Huawei equipment due to indignation with security issues. However, Huawei choosing France to build his plant, puts confidence in developing cooperation between China and Europe.
For the European Union, this step is important because countries consider different approaches to working with Chinese technology companies, trying to find a balance between economic cooperation and national security.
