The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAZK) and Transparency International Canada will join forces in building a corruption detection institute

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) and the Canadian international human rights organization Transparency International Canada have concluded a joint plan for the development of an institute for exposing corruption. The meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the NAKC, Yaroslav Lyubchenko, with the President of Transparency International Canada, Toby Mandel, discussed a number of issues, including the development of legislation on the status of whistleblowers, effective organization and positive trends in the fight against corruption.

One of the key topics was the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), which is determined annually by Transparency International. Ukraine, despite the invasion, successfully improved its indicator in 2022, receiving 33 points.

Toby Mandel emphasized Ukraine's success in law-making, pointing to its 19th place in the Global Right to Information rating. Lyubchenko shared details about the work of anti-corruption tools of the NAKC, in particular about the effectiveness of the Unified whistleblower reporting portal as a tool for implementing anti-corruption policy.

Also discussed are important aspects, such as rewards for whistleblowers, which have been confirmed by court decisions, and letters from NAKC to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the allocation of funds for these payments. The participants of the meeting confirmed the importance of access to information and openness of data as an effective tool for the formation of anti-corruption practices in Ukraine. Transparency International Canada has expressed its willingness to assist in the analysis of legislation regarding the rights and safeguards of whistleblowers.
