Turkey supported Iran in the conflict with Israel

Erdogan accused Israel of trying to ignite a new regional conflict in the Middle East, Sky News reports.

"Netanyahu and the country's leadership bear full responsibility for the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Israel is trying to provoke a regional conflict, and its attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus was the last straw," the Turkish president said at a press conference.

The Turkish president also criticized the West for condemning Iran's attack, but not Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate, to which Iran responded with a missile attack.

Erdogan believes that new regional conflicts are possible as long as "cruelty and genocide" continue in the Gaza Strip.

It should be noted that all the countries and groups of the Middle East in the current conflict either supported Iran (Turkey, Syria, the Yemeni Houthis, and the Lebanese Hezbollah), or (such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and even Jordan, which helped Israel shoot down Iranian missiles) took a neutral position with a call to prevent the escalation of the conflict (that is, in fact, with a call to Israel not to retaliate).

The geopolitical situation in the region is quite complicated for Israel. That is why the USA is calling on Netanyahu to exercise restraint.
