Zelensky for the first time explained why he fired Zaluzhny

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained that the changes in the military leadership, including the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, are part of a strategic "reset" aimed at improving coordination and accelerating the pace of work.

In his interview with Fox News, the head of state emphasized: "Time is the life of people, and we cannot waste it on bureaucracy." He noted the need for more flexible, technological and operational approaches.

According to the president, after his release, Zaluzhny was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for his devoted service in the defense of the country.

Zelensky did not rule out the possibility that Zaluzhny could oppose him, but noted that it would be "his choice."

We will remind that on February 8, 2024, Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhnyi from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Oleksandr Syrskyi to this position. Zaluzhn was offered to "remain in the team", but the specific position was not specified.

On February 9, Zelensky awarded Zaluzhny with the title of Hero of Ukraine.
