In July 2023, former Minister of Education of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk, sentenced to 15 years in prison in absentia for high treason, received the "Participant of a Special Military Operation" medal. This is reported by Russian opposition media.
The medal "Participant of a special military operation" in Russia's war against Ukraine was presented to Tabachnik by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation Army General Salyukov.
It is also noted that Dmytro Tabachnyk was part of the group that was to become the "provisional government" in Kyiv in February 2022. In addition, it is reported that Tabachnyk was spotted once on the frontline territories when he came to the Gauleiter of the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhya region of Balytskyi to register as an adviser and receive the relevant document.
On March 21, 2024, Dmytro Tabachnyk was sentenced to 15 years in prison in absentia.
