In connection with the shortage of electricity caused by mass shelling of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, Kyiv is preparing for changes in the operation of public transport. As reported by our sources in the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA), tomorrow the mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko will hold an emergency meeting to resolve issues related to the efficient functioning of city transport in the conditions of the energy crisis.
One of the discussed options is the launch of buses on Kyiv trolleybus routes. This is a forced measure, as trolleybuses running on electricity will not be able to function if the supply of electricity is reduced. Such a step will ensure uninterrupted transportation of passengers in the capital even under conditions of limited power supply.
The decision on the possible replacement of trolleybuses with buses is related to the general situation in the energy system of Ukraine after another mass shelling. According to the data received from our sources , starting from November 17, electricity blackout schedules may be introduced throughout the country, including the capital region. Damage to critical energy infrastructure facilities led to the need to redistribute available resources to stabilize the situation.
